Red Foundry Enterprise Deployment streamlines and automates large-scale enterprise deployments. When rolling out large numbers of Apple iOS devices across an organization, Red Foundry quickly and securely integrates devices in an enterprise environment using our over-the-air device enrollment system, Red Foundry OTA.

Commercial apps can be purchased, downloaded, and installed by users through the Apple App Store. However, in order to distribute non-commercial enterprise apps exclusively to your employees, the app must be digitally signed with a certificate issued by Apple through the Developer Enterprise Program. You must also have an enterprise distribution Provisioning Profile that allows a device to use the app. Without a valid provisioning profile, the app will fail to install and users will be unable to use the app. Red Foundry makes this process easy by providing the entire lifecycle for deployment, auditing and managing enterprise app deployment.

Using Red Foundry, iOS supports over-the-air (OTA) installation of enterprise applications, letting you distribute in-house software to your users without using iTunes or the Apple iPhone Configuration Utility.

OTA deployment uses a unique device activation code to provide enterprises with a scalable way to activate and configure a large numbers of devices. User activation tokens can be associated with a specific location, business unit or device group and determine IT-defined configuration settings and policies that Red Foundry pushes down to the device instantly upon activation.

Red Foundry’s OTA deployment offers various user authentication methods to meet the needs of complex enterprise environments. To initiate the authentication process, Red Foundry’s OTA system will notify your users by email and provide an enrollment URL and an encrypted limited expiration token. Upon visiting the enrollment URL, OTA then authenticates users through a basic authentication or via directory services (LDAP) to ensure enrollment requests are from authorized users.
