The Client has an existing flagship software product focused on billing and account management for regional telecommunications providers.  The Client had developed a responsive web solution for field technicians, but they sought a mobile-first approach to support their customers’ technicians who are working in the field.

The Client engaged Red Foundry in a Define, Design, and Develop project to build a modern mobile application that integrates with the existing system and better supports technicians who are on-the-go.

The project included:

  • Definition and Design process, resulting in high-fidelity designs for the planned solution
  • Mobile application developed using React Native – one codebase producing both iOS and Android Apps
  • Integration with existing flagship software product
  • App Store setup and submission

Users now have easy access to the information they need to complete their jobs efficiently while working in the unpredictable conditions of the field.  The app allows users to update work statuses, manage equipment, invoke provisioning, and access and add customer notes and documents.  The app capitalizes on mobile-specific functionality to support an even better work experience through location services for mapping and navigation, and camera access to scan barcodes when searching for equipment.  When users are working a job outside of cellular data coverage, many features are also supported through offline mode.  Providing a true mobile application has greatly enhanced field technicians’ ability to work from remote situations.
The MBS Field Tech mobile application is now available in the Apple Store and the Google Play Store.
